Something you truly have to see - these normally reserved people turn into dance loving Brazilians for a day! It's a day set aside to celebrate the Queen's Birthday, but has evolved into a mix of St. Patrick's and Mardi Gras. They block off the inner part of Amsterdam from all vehicles (trams and busses included), and people from all over the country pour in. Almost a million people are packed into an area the size of dowtown Boston, it's insane - our pictures should give you an idea.One of the fun little things is that it is also the only day that rummage sales are allowed, and so all the families block off little areas outside their apartments to sell a year's worth of junk. My favorite part was definitely all the boats packed with people dressed in crazy outfits, with DJs and confetti machines.
